We really enjoyed our stay at the Moulin Rouge Bed and Breakfast. The room was very nice and with individual comfort controls. Shower rain head nice. The amenities well planned. Our only complaint was the bed was high and difficult to get in and out comfortably.

We had a fantastic time at the very beautiful Moulin Rouge House. We stayed in the Moulin Rouge Suite it is absolutely beautiful, very clean and so comfortable. Chris and Kristin the owners are wonderful and have put so much time and love into restoring this amazing home. Our four course breakfast on Sunday was so delicious!!! We are very much looking forward to our next visit. Thank you Chris and Kristin so much for a wonderful weekend.

Had the best stay at the Moulin Rouge House for our mother/daughter getaway to visit the Betsy Tacy houses and explore Maud Hart Loveleace’s Mankato. Chris was a fabulous host, the accommodations were wonderful and the food was delicious. So much time and detail has gone into making it a memorable experience for the guests. If you find yourself in Mankato it’s a must stay!

We rode our motorcycle from the cities to this beautiful B&B for our 3rd Wedding Anniversary! Our stay was just what we needed to relax and enjoy our time together! This B&B is remarkable in its architecture and glam! The morning Brunch was delicious!

A beautiful historical home with many charming architectural details. We really enjoyed our visit: lounging in the downstairs rooms and having a great sleep in our comfortable bedroom with its en-suite bathroom. Breakfast in the dining area was a nice start to our day. I would love to be back if I’m in Mankato again. Many thanks to the thoughtful hosts!

The Moulon Rouge House is centrally located in the city of Mankato.It is a beautiful old home which has been restored to it's original splendor.The bedrooms are warm and cozy.I highly recommend Moulon Rouge for your next stay in Mankato.

We decided to take advantage of local places this year for a birthday celebration. We had the entire Moulin Rouge House to ourselves. The porch light was on along with other lamps. It was so inviting. The Christmas tree in the front window glowed with beauty so we accepted the invitation and sat to take in the beauty and wonder about all the stories the walls must hold. We had muffins and juice/coffee waiting for us in the morning. Thank you to the owners for all the love and work put into restoring this Mankato treasure.

My husband and I wanted a unique experience for 25th anniversary celebrations. We chose to get away to this beautiful B&B. The accommodations were excellent and the service was excellent. The house itself it is incredible after viewing the before and after photos, very special.

We stayed at Moulin Rouge because of its proximity to the Mankato race start and ending. The house was beautiful. Our bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on! There was always food available in the kitchen for all that were staying at the house. The house was clean and very comfortable. I can’t wait to stay there again!

We thoroughly enjoyed Moulan Rouge as a convenient location for our West High class reunion, as it was walking distance to the school and had a great outdoor seating area for a glass of wine at the end of the day. Rooms were comfy, breakfast was great!

This was a great location- walking distance to a bunch of great stores and restaurants and a quick drive to the state park. The house was beautiful, clean, and cozy. The Sunday brunch was delicious and the host was very warm, welcoming, and helpful with navigating Mankato!

Moulin Rouge is exquisite! Beautifully restored and expertly run. The Host and Hostess were lovely. The rooms were clean and well appointed. I enjoyed a restorative long weekend there. Location is very walkable to restaurants, shops, and entertainment and activities.

Our stay was very enjoyable! I highly recommend staying Saturday night so you can experience the 4 course breakfast. It was amazing! The hosts were very accommodating and informative. They enjoyed sharing their experiences in their renovations and business adventures. I would give these people 5 stars!

Beautiful historic home in a convenient location. It was an easy walk to the downtown town area with a good choice of places to eat. The self serve continental breakfast was excellent. This was a very pleasant change from chain motels on our drive across the country.

The owners were pleasant and professional when I made the reservation. The house is charming - so many details to make the home feel “turn of the century.”All the rooms were spotless yet cozy. All the furnishings worked perfectly.Breakfast was delightful!I hope to visit again in the future.

I had a wonderful stay at the Moulin Rouge in the Moulin Rouge suite! The house is absolutely stunning inside and out and the restoration was done with such a keen eye for detail and authenticity while also modernizing the facilities. The beds are very comfortable and the decorative touches give a homey feeling to every room. The location is an easy walk to sights and dining as well.My friend and I were lucky enough to be there for the four-course Sunday brunch which I highly recommend! The food was delicious and we enjoyed getting to know Chris and our fellow guests so much. Everything about this place is warm, inviting, and thoughtful. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in Worlds Fair room-delightful room with comfy bed for sleeping. This home is just incredible-all the details and work are truly a labor of love! If we are in Mankato again, this is where we are staying!

Would be all 5 stars but the bed was a little uncomfortable. Had a lean into the middle. Other than that, absolutely loved our stay and the breakfast was amazing. Did a wonderful job renovating the home. Wish we had more time to just enjoy. Beautiful sitting rooms inside the house and a gorgeous porch. Walking distance to fantastic restaurants and venues like the Vetter Stone Amphitheater. Will return and suggest to others.

We drove down from the Twin Cities to attend the Wynonna Judd concert in Mankato. We booked the BnB rather than a hotel. WOW! We paid a little extra for a bottle of wine & charcuterie board which were in the room when we checked in & it was delicious! Amazing Sunday morning 4-course breakfast! Great room, awesome common areas, wonderful stay. Local restaurants & bars within walking distance.Terrific inn owners & hospitality!

Beautiful house, restored by a local group. Historic building too… a sight to see. The breakfast was memorable, delicious and fine quality service. I seek this place out every time I am in Mankato. We stayed with our teenage kids and everyone loved it.

We had a wonderful time in Mankato.We stayed in the Worlds Fair Room.It was wonderful, well appointed and very comfortable.The breakfast was great, just enough to start our day.Quick 3-4 block Walk to many restaurants. We ate at Nolabelle and Paglial's Pizza, both were great

So happy to add another five star review for the Moulin Rouge House B&B. Communication pre check in and during our trip is top notch. The hosts are quick to respond and very clear.We stayed in the Free Press Room and it is beautiful, well appointed, and spacious!The common areas involve many places to sit both inside and out. It is quiet here now, but I imagine even when fully booked it’s still very spacious.I don’t think something rated so highly qualifies as a “hidden” gem. But it’s truly a gem!

First class in every way! The historic-home restoration was completed with acute attention to detail, and the place is lovely, cozy and welcoming. As it turned out, we had the place all to ourselves for a quiet Valentine's retreat. We sampled lots of the antique furniture (colorful, comfy and inviting), learned the home's history, and checked out its special features, fireplaces and furnishings. After our overnight, we dined lavishly on the large, healthy assortment of breakfast foods provided. As with the restoration, every detail for our comfort and use of the home was provided, and cleanliness and order are obviously high priorities. TV available if you want it - we didn't. Great for a couples or girlfriends getaway, small-group gathering (ask for some home-baked treats), or if in town for a family visit, sporting or cultural event. Conveniently located at the edge of downtown in walking distance from grocery, small shops, sandwich shops and restaurants. We met the baker, and the owners were responsive to us by text upon our arrival, departure and for questions in between. High marks all around!
About us
Moulin Rouge House, originally known as the historic Hunt House, was purchased in 2018 by owners, Chris Crowell and Kristin Fisher with the intention of restoring the home to its original Queen Anne style beauty.
Rooms
History
In 1886, it was purchased by Lewis P. and Lisbeth (Putnam) Hunt. The Hunt’s constructed the turret or “tower” with spiral staircase, front entryway and parlor with bay window.
